What aspect or aspects of Communication interest you most (intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, public or mass communication) and why?
The aspect of communication that interests me the most is public speaking. While I actively practice and work with all forms of communication, including intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, and mass communication, public speaking stands out as the area that excites me the most for personal development.
One reason public speaking captures my interest is because it is a skill that requires a unique blend of confidence, clarity, and engagement. Unlike interpersonal or group communication, public speaking often involves addressing larger audiences where the speaker must maintain control of their message while simultaneously ensuring that it resonates with a diverse range of listeners. It’s a dynamic form of communication that challenges individuals to think on their feet, deliver compelling arguments, and maintain the audience's attention. This requires a lot of preparation and practice, which I find to be a rewarding and fulfilling process.
Although public speaking is my primary focus, I believe that my foundation in intrapersonal communication has played a significant role in my growth. Intrapersonal communication involves self-reflection and internal dialogue, which helps me clarify my thoughts, analyze situations, and prepare myself mentally for any communicative task. Whether I’m preparing for a presentation, working on self-improvement, or rehearsing ideas in my mind, intrapersonal communication gives me the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of my perspectives before expressing them to others. This form of communication has been essential in shaping my ability to communicate effectively in any context.
Furthermore, practicing interpersonal and group communication has also enriched my public speaking skills. Engaging with others in smaller settings has helped me develop a deeper understanding of how people respond to different cues, tones, and expressions. It provides immediate feedback, which I can use to refine my public speaking strategies.
In the end, public speaking offers me an exciting opportunity to showcase all that I’ve learned from various forms of communication. It allows me to connect with people on a larger scale, and I look forward to continuously improving in this area.
What are your professional goals or professional areas of interest and why? If you are “undecided” identify professional areas you are interested in learning more about and Why!
I am currently pursuing a bachelor's in Business & Management with a minor in Communications, and my professional goal is to work in Healthcare Administration, potentially focusing on billing, insurance, or policy controls. This career path aligns with both my academic background and personal interests.
Healthcare administration intrigues me because it allows me to make an impact on the operational side of healthcare, ensuring that systems run smoothly and efficiently. I’ve always been drawn to roles that combine organization, leadership, and strategic thinking, and healthcare administration seems to fit this profile perfectly. The industry offers a chance to be involved in the important behind-the-scenes work that helps healthcare institutions operate effectively, providing support to healthcare professionals and ensuring that patients receive the care they need.
One of the aspects of healthcare administration that appeals to me is the billing and insurance sector. This area is complex and crucial, as it ensures that healthcare providers are compensated for their services while making sure that patients understand and manage their healthcare costs. It requires a strong understanding of both the business side of healthcare and the regulations surrounding insurance and billing. I am interested in learning more about how these processes work and how I can contribute to improving efficiency and transparency in this area.
Additionally, I am interested in policy controls within healthcare administration. I believe that understanding and implementing policies is essential to maintaining quality standards, regulatory compliance, and ethical practices in healthcare organizations. Policies affect everything from patient care to staff operations, and having a solid grasp of these controls can ensure that healthcare institutions meet legal and regulatory requirements. By focusing on this area, I would be able to play a role in shaping policies that can lead to better outcomes for both patients and healthcare providers.
Ultimately, my goal is to leverage my business and communication skills to become a successful healthcare administrator. I want to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare systems, particularly in the areas of billing, insurance, and policy, to help create a more streamlined and accessible healthcare experience for everyone involved.
